Your next chapter
Stepping into the Sixth Form at The Ladies' College marks a pivotal transition, offering students greater independence alongside increased responsibility. Within our close-knit community of approximately 50 students per year group, each individual benefits from personalised attention and tailored support to help realise their aspirations.
Our academic excellence is underpinned by outstanding pastoral care, delivered by experienced mentors and the Sixth Form leadership team. Students also receive expert career guidance and specialised support for university applications, ensuring they are well-prepared for their next steps.

Sixth Form Pathways
Beyond A-levels, our Sixth Form experience is enhanced by the introduction of the Pathways curriculum and the Core programme. These complementary strands focus on building essential 21st-century skills and fostering the development of vital soft skills such as communication, resilience, and leadership.
Launched in 2024, the Pathways curriculum represents a bold evolution of our commitment to nurturing independent thinkers and future leaders. Running alongside traditional academic study, it equips students with the tools, mindset, and knowledge they need to thrive in an increasingly complex and fast-changing world.
The programme goes beyond conventional academics, with a strong emphasis on self-awareness, adaptability, and meaningful collaboration. Students are encouraged to explore their potential, engage critically with global issues, and develop the creativity and confidence needed to navigate the challenges and opportunities of the fourth industrial revolution—and whatever comes next.

Sixth Form in Partnership
Building upon a long-standing partnership established in 1999, The Ladies' College and Elizabeth College offer an exceptional Sixth Form experience. Rooted in shared history and a proven record of success, this collaboration is committed to providing the very best for our students. We offer a broad spectrum of A-level courses, personalised support from experienced staff, and a wealth of co-curricular opportunities. While benefiting from co-educational classes, students retain the unique advantages of their 'home' College.

“The Sixth Form at The Ladies’ College offers two exciting and rewarding years, where girls are supported to grow into confident, grounded young women ready for whatever comes next.
It’s a place where academic excellence is just the beginning—students are also encouraged to discover their passions, develop new skills, and embrace opportunities beyond the classroom. I look forward to welcoming your daughter and supporting her on this important chapter of her journey.”

Academic excellence in Sixth Form
Our curriculum, offering a choice of 26 subjects, is designed to provide students with a tailored and flexible learning experience. The partnership between The Ladies' College and Elizabeth College ensures we can accommodate diverse subject combinations.
We prioritise small class sizes, typically ranging from 8 to 16 students, cultivating an environment of individual attention, challenge, and support. This, coupled with a more mature student-teacher dynamic, encourages robust group debate and independent thinking. Students also benefit from dedicated private study time and the opportunity to undertake the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), a highly regarded academic endeavour that demonstrates essential research and analytical skills valued by universities.
Complementing their subject choices, students benefit from weekly Pathways sessions, Core lessons, 'LifeLaunch' and Careers lessons, helping to preparing them for the future. Our graduates consistently achieve excellent results, with the majority progressing to university, including prestigious Russell Group institutions, while others pursue local employment or a gap year.

Leadership and responsibility
We offer students a range of opportunities to develop leadership skills and take on meaningful responsibilities within the school and the wider community. With strong links to Guernsey-wide initiatives, such as the Institute of Directors (IoD) and the Collas Crill Moot, students can engage in real-world leadership experiences. Whether as Senior Prefects, House Captains, mentors, or prefects, our students are encouraged to lead by example, inspire others, and make a positive impact. These roles help them build essential skills in confidence, teamwork, and decision-making, preparing them for future leadership in higher education and professional life. By encouraging a strong sense of responsibility, we empower students to become proactive, engaged, and principled leaders of tomorrow.

Personal development
We are committed to supporting the personal growth of every student, ensuring they leave as confident, independent, and well-rounded individuals. Our tailored programme, aligned with the Pathways curriculum, includes mentoring, leadership opportunities, enrichment activities, and dedicated sessions on essential life skills such as resilience, communication, and financial literacy. These experiences help students build the self-awareness and adaptability they need to succeed at university and in the workplace. Personal development is woven into daily life in the Sixth Form, encouraging students to take ownership of their futures and flourish beyond the classroom.

Pastoral support
Student wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do in the Sixth Form. Our strong pastoral care network ensures every student feels supported, encouraged, and truly valued throughout their journey. With dedicated mentoring, wellbeing initiatives, and an open-door policy, we foster a safe and nurturing environment where students can confidently navigate both academic pressures and personal challenges. We promote independence while nurturing a culture of kindness and peer support, empowering students to seek guidance and help one another. Our personalised approach prioritises individual needs and helps to build resilience, emotional intelligence, and a positive mindset—ensuring students are equipped to thrive in all areas of life.

Entry requirements to Sixth Form
To begin A-level studies, students require a minimum of five (I)GCSE passes at grade 4 or higher, including English Language and Mathematics. Most subjects also require a grade 6 at GCSE for A-level entry.
Further details can be found in the A-level Subject Information Booklet.

The Leaf Centre, the heart of Sixth Form
The Leaf Centre, our dedicated Sixth Form space, offers a unique transition from Senior School. Situated within The Ladies' College grounds but distinct from the main building, it encourages a sense of independence. Recently renovated with a modern new look, the Leaf Centre provides a comfortable and versatile environment for both study and socialising.
Inside, students find everything they need to thrive. Two welcoming common rooms, a quiet study area, a café-style kitchen, and a classroom create a supportive atmosphere where collaboration and focussed work go hand-in-hand. Flexible work zones, featuring study pods, high desks and comfortable seating accommodate diverse study styles. Inspiring artwork and motivational quotes, reflecting our core values of Bravery, Integrity, and Kindness, enrich the space, creating a nurturing environment for academic and personal growth.
"We couldn’t be more thrilled with the transformation. The space is now modern, welcoming, and truly reflects the spirit of our students.
It creates the perfect environment for them to thrive, both academically and personally.” Emma Clements
Dress for your day
Our students take a ‘dress for your day’ approach.
This allows students to choose attire that suits their daily activities, fostering comfort and self-expression.
For formal events, we encourage a smarter dress code, academic gowns are provided and are worn with sashes.
Our approach encourages personal responsibility and adaptability in dressing for various contexts, preparing students for future professional environments while maintaining a sense of community and connection to our traditions.
