This year three of our co-curricular groups performed in the Eisteddfod. We are delighted with the hard work and effort our girls put into their performance and this was by no means an exception. Inclement weather resulted in postponing the Thursday schedule and the Junior Motet performed on Monday morning. They gained an impressive 91 marks and won their class. This choir comprises of 12 dedicated singers in Remove – Lower Five and rehearse for an hour each week.
On Tuesday the senior string orchestra performed two pieces ‘Basse Danse’ and ‘Eleanor Rigby’. Each year there is an evening of large ensemble and orchestral competition from across the island. The adjudicator commented on excellent intonation and loved the sound the girls created.
Our final entry of the week came from the junior choir. This is a large choir from Remove – Upper Four rehearsing for just 30 minutes each week. They performed two songs and they should be very proud of their achievements.
Despite this being a competition we benefit greatly from hearing choirs, orchestras and ensembles from across the island as well as receiving comments from an adjudicator. This year she provided excellent feedback which we can focus on and implement into our rehearsals.
Each year many of our girls enter as soloists and in groups and ensembles from outside of the college. We would like to congratulate them for their efforts and the many successes they have achieved this year.
