Statement on qualifications studied in the Sixth Form 2021-23 for Higher Education Institutions.
The Ladies' College is a grant-aided day school for girls in Guernsey. We operate a Sixth Form partnership with a local HMC school, Elizabeth College. This partnership allows us to offer a wide range of subject combinations and aids preparation for higher education and the workplace. Students are taught in mixed classes across both sites. Entry requirements for the Sixth Form are five grades 9-4, with grade 6 advised in the subjects to be studied at A-level or equivalent. All students have studied reformed A-levels based on terminal examinations.
The Ladies’ College closed March 2020 to June 2020 and January 2021 to March 2021 due to Covid-19. The majority of lessons continued online however practical lessons could not take place. There was also some disruption due to student and teacher absences.Students were subsequently awarded Teacher Assessed Grades for GCSE.
Outside of the closure periods, the College has functioned normally, though our procedures remain subject to review in response to guidance from the island's government. UCAS grades are based on continual assessment, an end of year examination in June 2021 and our teachers' professional judgement. Students attended a Higher Education Fair on island and have been encouraged to attend virtual open days and other Higher Education virtual events.
