The Ladies' College

“It is what you read when you don't have to that determines who you will be when you can't help it.” Oscar Wilde

Our well-stocked College library aims to encourage reading for pleasure as well as providing subject based reference material. It provides online learning services, fiction and non-fiction books, newspapers and magazines that enable all members of the school community to become critical thinkers and effective users of information in a range of formats and media. The library aims to improve literacy and encourage lifelong learning.

The full-time Librarian will help you access the collection and find what you need as well as supporting independent study, English library lessons, recreational and homework activities during lunchtime and after school drop-in club.

You can request new titles, borrow from the extensive book collection, access the ebook and audiobook collection through your individual SORA code, charge your device, play a range of card and board games, jigsaws and puzzles, try a paper craft, mindful colouring activity or enter the termly quizzes and competitions.

The library is open during school hours. It also provides an opportunity for girls throughout Senior School to become Student Librarians and play a part in the running of the library. We are also a member of the Schools’ Library Association and the Schools’ Library Service.
