English - Activities

The Monachan Memorial Trophy, in addition to the Eisteddfod and The Spelling Bee, ensures our students are given every opportunity to further their skills outside of the classroom. Writing and poetry competitions offered during the academic year are always well supported throughout the school. Reading logs and spelling activities are encouraged. The department has also launched a Creative writing competition open to all year groups, delivered through the House system.

External writers and poets are invited on a yearly basis. Island productions are visited and theatre companies and visitors are invited to the school wherever possible. We feel it important to encourage such events and visits.
