Updating CV's, writing a covering letter, finding out about Local Employment, Apprenticeships, Skills for career progression, Solving problems and spotting opportunities, Gap Years and University life.
Individual sessions are held with girls looking at applying for Oxbridge or going into the medical field. Students are encouraged to attend a presentation held by the Guernsey Oxford Society as well as the school’s own Oxbridge talk.
Students are informed about applying to University through UCAS as well as being given a workshop on how to write a personal statement.
In March, students are invited to attend a Higher Education (HE) evening and an HE day.
A joint HE evening is held between The Ladies' College and Elizabeth College where parents and students learn about the advantage of going to University, key dates for University applications, what the application process involves and what finance support is provided by the States of Guernsey.
On the HE Day students are able to attend various subject talks from Universities and get a chance to go to stands of over 40 Universities and ask any questions they may have related to the University or their course.
Throughout the year there are also talks from local companies such as: KPMG, Carey Olsen, Specsavers, GCSAA.
Students also find out about Brock University in Canada and the bursary scheme Guernsey has with the University. Information is provided about other Canadian and US universities as well as some in Europe.
There is a library of books related to a variety of degrees, applying to University and writing a good personal statement and a huge range of University prospectuses available.
Students applying for University:
Time is spent completing the UCAS form to ensure that it is done correctly. Each student is given a mini interview to discuss her thoughts. Time is provided for writing and checking personal statements – teachers are always on hand to read through personal statements and offer help and advice. Students enjoy looking on some key websites:

Once students have applied they are introduced to Track; they are also offered interview advice and a chance to have a mock interview. Girls are given advice about applying for bursaries and are given top tips of how to survive at University as well as specific information on what to do on Results Day and lots of different scenarios are run through.
