Sixth Form student Miranda Griffin is launching a new school paper. Called The College Voice, it will be printed once a month and contain news items about the school and subjects of interest to our girls.
"I've aspired to be a journalist for a long time now," says Miranda, 18. "And I wish to study journalism at university. However, I felt that waiting until uni seemed too far away. So I thought, why not start now? I got my inspiration from the school's yearly Ilex magazine and it came to my attention that we didn't have anything written by students on a monthly basis. I decided it would be a great way to bring the school community together in order to keep up to date with in-school events but also to enjoy a good read on student based topics for pupils and teachers."
The College Voice will cost 50p to buy and will contain a wide variety of topics designed to appeal to its young audience. Miranda adds, "It will also give Sixth Form students a chance to write about a topic they feel passionate about! I'm very optimistic about it and hope it brings as much joy to others as it has to me creating it!"
The first issue will be out next week.
