The last day of the Lent Term was a chance for everyone to let their hair down with the annual House Music Competition. We were very fortunate to have Mrs Christine Anthony with us to adjudicate. As she stated, it was a very difficult job because of the high performance standards from all participants. There were three classes: Group Popular Song, Classical Solo and the House Choir. The choices of Popular Song were very varied and there were some very tricky harmonies created by all participants. Carey, with their percussive arrangement of I’ll think of you by Sam Tsui were the winners of that class. The Classical Solo class had performers representing the full age range of the school, from Remove to Upper 6, but it was Marie-Claire Benoist (U4) who wowed the audience and adjudicator with her performance of Nataliana, a fantasy piece for harp. The songs for the final round had to be chosen from a limited number of musicals and spanned from Matilda, through Mamma Mia! to Grease. Brock had to be commended for their ability to get the whole house on stage for Mamma Mia!, but it was Carey who again stole the show with their rendition of Revolting Children from Matilda. With two ‘first places’ Carey deservedly won the overall trophy. Well done to every girl who got up and performed, but congratulations go to Lottie Parks and Carey - House Music Winners 2015.
