Art Trip 2016

On October 14th, we flew out to London, Gatwick to explore the galleries. We started off at the Tate Britain where we had the opportunity to see various artists and styles including a fantastic sculpture made of mouldy bread! Next we took the Tate-To-Tate boat to the Tate modern where we saw thousands of modern pieces and had time to walk around the Georgia O’Keeffe exhibition.

On Saturday we walked to the National Gallery in Trafalgar square and for lunch we went to the crypt, which was very unique. We also wondered around the market in Trafalgar Square and many of us were given free hand made rings! Afterwards we walked to the Royal Academy and entered the Abstract Expressionism Exhibition. The group had mixed opinions about this one, however Miss Clements was having a ball in the Rothko room! In the evening we all ate at Pizza Express, which we think was a good decision. The Premier Inn’s rooms were roomy and everyone was grateful for the comfortable beds.

On the Sunday we packed our bags and headed out to the Southbank, where we queued in the rain for the London Eye. Luckily it was well worth the wait (which is not what Miss Clements was saying when we got to the top of the Eye), and we saw some amazing views and took some remarkable photos. On arriving at Gatwick we were delighted to hear that we had 45 minutes for a quick shopping session, and it is safe to say that Zara and Victoria’s Secret made a huge profit off us.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Mr Bolt, Mrs Anderson and Mrs Adams for making the trip possible, and an even bigger thank you to Miss Clements for organising it. We all had a fantastic time.
