Christingle Service

NEWS  SENIOR SCHOOL , SIXTH FORM

The Reverend Matthew Barrett, Rector of St. Peter Port, led our Senior School Christingle assembly today. The hall was dark at the beginning, and Rev. Barrett linked this to the dark times many children are experiencing in places such as Syria. He explained the meaning of the Christingle oranges, and how Christians believe Jesus came to bring light to those who live in all kinds of darkness. The Christingle candles (one for each Year Group) were lit from a central candle, "one light, shared but undiminished", and carried down the central aisle to represent the brightness of Christmas reaching the dark places of our world. The Christingle oranges will be displayed in the foyer this week, along with a collection box in which students and staff can leave donations in aid of The Childrens' Society http://childrenssociety.org.uk/
