World Aid Walk 2017

NEWS  SENIOR SCHOOL , SIXTH FORM , MUSIC

The Ladies’ College were pleased to be able to represent the Save the Children charity at the World Aid Walk, 1st May 2017 and would like to congratulate anyone and everyone who was involved in any way. In spite of very difficult weather conditions walkers, performers and volunteers helped raise £24,000 on the day to be shared amongst a number of charities.

THANK YOU.

Our role was to provide the entertainment and The Ladies’ College PTA and students manned the first check point and donated transfers and plenty of glitter for face paints for both adults and children as they passed this point.

THANK YOU.

At the start of the walk, Melrose choir sang “One Fine Day” and Unclassified performed a set of songs. As walkers returned, Chloe, Rachel, Emilie and Coco also performed wonderful solo sets and we also enjoyed the music from Vice (La Mare de Carteret), Third Above (Les Beaucamps) and Imogen (Blanchelande). Wayne and his team from Thirst Music School not only provided equipment and technical support, but also entertained us with a short jamming session which was great!

THANK YOU.

In spite of appalling weather conditions, the walkers resolve was terrific and there were many pupils from Melrose, students from the Senior School and parents and colleagues who put themselves out to support the event. We are filled with admiration for you. Very well done if you were a participant. We know the conditions were challenging to say the least.

THANK YOU.

Our theme for Senior and Sixth Form assemblies last week was about the importance of teamwork. The event yesterday was a terrific example of this and showed clearly what happens when an event is shared into different teams, with each team delivering their part to produce an outcome that would not otherwise been possible.

THANK YOU to The Ladies’ College team and THANK YOU to everyone who was involved in any way.
