Form III have been exploring Guernsey food and local delicacies. As part of this topic, Mrs Bracegirdle has been helping us cook some Guernsey dishes.
Here we are preparing Gâche Melée which is a traditional Guernsey recipe dating back for hundreds of years. It may share a similar name with Gâche, but is completely different! Gâche Melée is more like a very heavy sort of apple cake.
It was really delicious!
We made cheese scones using Guernsey cheddar. We also had a cheese tasting afternoon. We learned how to taste cheese properly and enjoyed 5 different local cheeses.
We also planned menus using only local produce- we hope to do some more cooking using our delicious local food.
