This poem, from the archives, was read by Remove girls at Monday night’s Carol Service, which also included wonderful singing, reading and music. The poem was written by a pupil, Ruth Anderson, for Christmas 1918. Ruth died suddenly at the end of the Trinity Term 1920 and the attached extract, quoted in the order of service, are Miss Mellish's words to the school at Mark Reading and "Final Prayers" that term. A candle was lit during the Carol Service in Ruth’s memory and was a very moving part of the service in St Stephen’s, where we celebrated the importance of Christmas with family, friends and each other.
