Make time to make someone smile

NEWS  SENIOR SCHOOL , SIXTH FORM , MELROSE , JUNIOR SCHOOL , WELL-BEING

Well-being – pay it forward!

So, in this very odd situation we all continue to find ourselves in, perhaps it’s worth a moment to remind yourself as you read this that we are all in this together and while we are bombarded with well-meaning slogans by the media, perhaps today you could make a difference to someone, who just like you, is likely finding that their well-being is compromised.

That perhaps they are working harder but not making as much head-way as they would like; that they, like you, are spending far too much time in front of a screen out of necessity and cannot relax; or that they are feeling lethargic and have no get up and go.

So, today's challenge is to do something that will make someone else feel good.

It could be that you make your mum a cup of tea (just the way she likes it), or perhaps you take the time to play the game your little brother or sister has been pestering you to play (even if it is one of those really long and tedious games of Monopoly where they insist on lending you money so you can still play, when by rights you should have ‘out’ three hours ago). Or it could be that you send a text or a funny picture to a pal you haven’t spoken to in a while, or FaceTime the nan who thinks you’re the best thing ever and brags to her own pals about you – or even tell your dad a terrible joke because the silly ones are the ones that make him smile.

So, whatever you do in your busy lives today, make time to make someone smile – not because it makes you feel good (although it will) – but because it makes them feel good.

Have a good day, Ladies and take care!

And here's something to make you smile - these photos are of Mrs King's dog, Ralphie, who, though training to be a therapy dog, wants to be either a police officer or a superhero when he grows up
