Having more flexibility in the way we use our time can offer many opportunities to set physical challenges we do not normally have time for. When setting these challenges use the SMART principles to help you stick to your goal.
S |
Specific |
Know what you want to achieve |
M |
Measurable |
How will you know you have reached your goal? |
A |
Achievable |
Make sure your goal is challenging yet achievable |
R |
Relevant |
Is it a worthwhile goal, within the wider context of your situation. It should also be FUN! |
T |
Timed |
Give a time frame in which to achieve your goal, e.g. 4 weeks |
By following these principles, you should maintain motivation and find it easier to stay on track to achieve your goal.
You could also write it down and record your progress. Depending on your goal, there are many apps that can help you do this, e.g. STRAVA and endomondo
If you are feeling under the weather, or unmotivated, it’s ok to take the odd day off. Try not to let this become a habit. Good habits take effort to establish.
Your goals may change – this is fine!
Examples of challenges could be:
Or any other skill or challenge that motivates you.
Let me know your goal. If you share your goal, you are more likely to be compelled to keep it.
Good Luck!
