  1. Be curious and ask questions about the world - why are things the way they are?
  2. Be critical - all evidence has limitations, try to understand what they are and why they are there.
  3. Never assume - substantiated judgements are our goal.
  4. Be a tortoise not a hare! Steady application and the gradual accumulation of knowledge and understanding stands you in much better stead for revision and examinations.
  5. Learn how to write well, with accurate spelling punctuation and grammar; communication is key.
  6. Enjoy the stories of the past, history is full of ripping yarns!
  7. Follow the news; journalism is sometimes called the first draft of History.
  8. Knowledge is power: people always want historians on their quiz team.
  9. And remember History is not just for the classroom – exploring your heritage is hugely rewarding as you try to make sense of your place in the world.
