History
“Where the past is present.”
History teaching at The Ladies' College fires students' curiosity and imagination.
It helps students develop their own identities through an understanding of history at personal, local, national and global levels. It requires them to ask and answer questions of the present by engaging with the past. Our students discover the history of their community, of Britain, Europe and the world. They also learn about the history of our school and how the pioneering women who battled for girls' education have served them and all the generations who have passed through our doors.
Our enthusiastic history teachers equip our girls with knowledge and skills that are prized in adult life, enhancing employability and developing an ability to take part in a democratic society. They encourage mutual understanding of the historic origins of our ethnic and cultural diversity, and help pupils become confident and questioning individuals.
The Ladies' College was re-awarded a Gold Quality Mark for History by the Historical Association in 2022.
