Guernsey is pleased to host its first ever TEDxYouth event. This incorporates some pre-recorded TED talks, with live talks from locals and also speakers brought over from the UK.
This is an event which will tackle issues that young people face, and hopefully inspire solutions for our vision for Guernsey 2020.
There are talks on the following topics: autism, disability, mental health, Islamophobia, youth voice, bullying and gender equality. Pre-recorded talks will help enforce messages about the role of young people in society.
The event is on the Thursday, 18th February from 7pm until 9pm at Beau Sejour.
Three members of the Youth Forum for Guernsey and Alderney have organised this out of our own time with help from the main TED event organisers.
Although focused on youth issues, the audience members are not restricted by age and we encourage anybody who is interested in what young people have to say, to come along. As such, we hope that both teachers, students, professionals and generally anyone who is an active part of our community will be encouraged to attend the event.
The Facebook event is called 'TEDxYouth@StPeterPort 2016'.
