This morning, Lower Four Historians presented a series of well-researched and engaging presentations on individually chosen aspects of local heritage. The range of topics and eras covered was quite extraordinary and, to give you a flavour, included the Roman wreck in the harbour, the medieval Town Church, C16th witch-burnings, Castle Cornet in the Civil War, privateers and pirates, Victor Hugo in Guernsey, lighthouses, tobacco trading, the bathing pools, cattle slaughtering, Victoria Tower, the Bailiwick in WWI and the bombing of the harbour in WWII. We began just as today's cruise ship passengers were coming ashore for their tours so the girls know that guiding is a real job opportunity in our community. Well done today, girls!
