Upper Five 1 finished learning the IGCSE Physics syllabus last week, so we decided that now was a good a time as any to have a "Physics Cake-Off"!
Students went above and beyond to create some incredible cakes:
Jade Irish created "Abstract Physics", a model of the universe complete with galaxies and an EM wave;
Willow Bearder made a gorgeous galaxy creation, complete with milky way stars;
Chloe Philpot created a fantastic Fluorine atom;
Chloe Robert made a genius cupcake parallel circuit (the voltmeter was connected correctly);
Mrs Winter made a solar system cake with space rocket;
Harriet St Pier's Solar System cake had planets individually modelled from different materials; (both Mrs Winter and Harriet only wished they could have made their solar systems to scale, a disappointment quickly alleviated once they'd eaten more cake.)
Emily Penney made a cake with the famous Orion Constellation;
Sylvie made the Sun complete with Coronal Mass Ejections;
Eloise expertly modelled the bending of space-time with her earth / space cake;
and last but certainly not least was Lucy Pratt with her Brownian Motion cake, a brownie in a trolley on wheels, which she had made herself! Wendy in the refectory judged this to be the winning cake and Lucy was duly presented with her certificate. A fantastic achievement by all those that took part and possibly our favourite ever physics lesson. #physicsisphun
