The Ladies’ College is running its first ever football leadership award course. The course is run by Guernsey FA Development officer, Angus Mackay, a former Guernsey FC and Muratti player. It is a 12-week course of half-hour sessions during their lunchtime, which involves practical skills, plus four hours of volunteering to gain the full qualification.
“We aim to provide students at the College with a range of opportunities and learning environments and this course does just that. Many of the girls are also using the course to towards their bronze Duke of Edinburgh award, so it is beneficial all round”, PE teacher, Miss Dudin explained,
“We really appreciate Angus and GFA in providing the opportunity for the girls to take part in this award. Not only does it allow girls to play some football, but also to have the opportunity to learn some basic leadership skills including, refereeing, assisting with running mini sessions and drills, develop the fundamental football skills.”
