IoD Directors of Tomorrow Announced

NEWS  SENIOR SCHOOL , SIXTH FORM , SIXTH FORM CAREERS

Two of our Upper Sixth students have been selected from a group of eight nominated to take part in the 2020 IoD Directors of Tomorrow initiative. Lucy and Elsie have been named as this year’s leading Directors of Tomorrow, along with another student from Blanchelande College.

Mr Bolt, Economics tutor, was very impressed, "When you consider how much effort these students have put in to their A-level Economics lessons it doesn't surprise me that Lucy and Elsie were identified by the IoD as directors of the future. Fully deserved and I am looking forward to seeing where all of the class end up going from September 2021 onwards."

Lucy commented, "The IoD careers summit was an excellent opportunity to meet professionals from a variety of industries and to learn about their different and unique experiences. After attending the careers summit, I have a greater appreciation of how lucky I am to be a student in Guernsey and to have access to internships and work experience locally in a range of different industries. I would like to thank the IoD for this incredible opportunity."

Elsie added, 'I thoroughly enjoyed the seminar and the subsequent lunch. To have been given such a variety of viewpoints from so many different people was highly beneficial.'

Well done girls - it is a great achievement.

Directors of Tomorrow was created by The Ana Leaf Foundation 10 years ago as a way of celebrating young business talent on the island.

This year the scheme invited students, selected by their teachers based on their interest in business, and current affairs, to attend the Career Inspiration Summit and the following day an exclusive lunch with local industry leaders. The events aimed to share insights and inspiration to the local students, with discussions with entrepreneurs and industry professionals on their career journeys and business experiences. Afterwards the students were invited to submit a piece of writing to reflect on their experience.
