Supporting local charities

NEWS  SENIOR SCHOOL , SIXTH FORM , MELROSE , SIXTH FORM ENRICHMENT

The Ladies' College Senior and Junior Schools have ended term in the Christmas spirit by raising money for local charities. Students and staff donated tins of produce which the school's student-led Charities Committee took to Guernsey Welfare to be added to their Christmas Foodbank.

On Thursday, students in the Senior School and Sixth Form wore Christmas costumes and jumpers to school and donated money towards In-Dependence (formerly Drug Concern). Melrose chose to give the money raised from their Christmas costumes towards the town Christmas lights.

Upper Sixth prefect, Lydia, chair of the College's Charity Committee said, "Over Michaelmas term we have supported some great charities, such as Care4Calais and Tearfund. For our Christmas costume day we decided to support In-dependence Guernsey, a local charity which helps the recovery of those who struggle with drug, alcohol and gambling addictions. Our donation will go towards helping their important work with service users, and their friends/ family."

Lydia supported by two other students on the committee, Sofia and Nicole, will deliver these food donations tomorrow.
