Modern Foreign Languages
“To have another language is to possess a second soul.” Charlemagne
Our aims are simple! We wish to share our own passion for learning Modern Foreign Languages in order to give our students enjoyment and life-long skills. Languages form an essential part of the cultural diversity of our society and the world in which we live and work. We believe that learning other languages enriches our students and provides an intellectual challenge which is greatly appreciated by employers.
We aim to encourage positive attitudes to learning Modern Foreign Languages so that students understand and are curious about the cultures associated with them. They are given the opportunity to learn about the countries in which the target languages are spoken and we organise regular visits to France, Germany and Spain at various times throughout the Key Stages. Students develop skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking so that they can communicate effectively in a range of different situations.
